Share

Cleveland High defeated cross-suburb rival Reseda, 5-3, at home Tuesday behind a complete game by Pat Almeido.

“Both teams grew up in the same neighborhoods and played youth ball together,” said Cleveland Coach Marty Siegel. “This was a meaningful game.”

The West Valley League game was perhaps most meaningful for Reseda pitcher Robert Wheatcroft, a senior who pitched for Cleveland the past two years. Although he drew the loss, Wheatcroft went the distance and allowed only six hits.
