Aztec Notebook : There’s Some Shuffling Going On During the Spring Football Camp

News from spring football camp: Mike Ariey, a sophomore defensive tackle, has been moved to the offensive line. Freshman linebacker Stuart Busbee has been moved to tight end. Sophomore safety Kenny Moore has been moved back to wide receiver.

Two Aztec football recruits, strong safety John Wesselman of West Torrance High and defensive back Lyndon Earley of Gardena High, will play in the North-South Shrine All-Star game in the Rose Bowl on July 27.

The men’s track and field team, which has yet to qualify anyone for the NCAA national championships April 30 at Austin, Tex., hopes to take advantage of being at home on a fast track in its final home appearance of the season on Saturday. The Aztecs, UC Irvine and Cal Poly Pamona will meet in a triangular meet.

Both the men’s meet and the women’s dual meet against UC Irvine will start at noon. The SDSU women will conclude their home schedule with a meet against Arizona State on May 4.

The men’s Aztec basketball team is scheduled to play in three pre-conference tournaments next season. SDSU, Fresno State, Louisiana Tech and Eastern Washington will be in the Fresno Tournament, beginning on Nov. 30.

SDSU, Nevada Las Vegas, Iona and Florida are scheduled to meet in the Rebel Roundup at Las Vegas on Dec. 20 and 21. SDSU, defending champion Boston College, Fresno State and University of North Carolina at Charlotte are expected to compete in the Cabrillo Classic on Dec. 27-28 at San Diego.
