LA JOLLA — UC San Diego scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to upset Grand Canyon College, 8-6, Friday in a nonconference baseball game at Olsen Field.
It was the first time UCSD had ever beaten Grand Canyon, which is the No. 2-ranked NAIA team in the country. The two teams had played seven times previously.
The big hit for the Tritons in the seventh was a three-run homer by Bob Natal, his ninth home run of the year.
Rick Davis (2-5), who survived a four-run first inning, pitched a complete game for the Tritons (23-25-1). Grand Canyon is 43-21.
