Quarterback Reggie Collier connected on two long touchdown pass plays and scored once himself Monday night to give the Orlando Renegades to a 21-20 United States Football League victory over the San Antonio Gunslingers.

Collier, who completed 15 of 28 passes for 248 yards, was intercepted three times in the opening half, but also hit on scoring pass plays of 50 yards to Jerry Parrish and 45 yards to Jackie Flowers. Collier’s four-yard scoring run, just 24 seconds before the half, gave Orlando (3-9) a 21-6 lead before a crowd estimated at 15,000.

The Gunslingers (3-9) rallied in the second half as Scott Stamper ran two yards for his second touchdown of the game and Rick Neuheisel threw a two-point conversion pass to Frank Lockett to make it 21-14.

George Works, who gained 132 yards on 21 carries, ran 30 yards for a touchdown with 46 seconds left in the third quarter, but San Antonio botched its second extra point of the game to fall one point short.

San Antonio’s last chance dissolved when the Gunslingers bypassed a 55-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds and Neuheisel’s fourth down-and-16 pass fell incomplete.
