Softball Playoffs Open Today for 17 Southeast/L.B. Teams
Seventeen Southeast/Long Beach area girls teams open Southern Section softball divisional playoff action today.
In the 4A division, St. Paul High (12-7) travels to South Torrance (15-8), Warren (12-9) goes to Hart (19-4), San Gabriel Valley champion Cerritos (18-4) hosts Lompoc (16-7) and Downey (15-5) travels to Villa Park (17-5).
Moore League co-champion Wilson (13-9) entertains Mira Costa (16-8), while the team Wilson shared the title with, Millikan (14-9-1), visits Santa Maria (18-5-1).
In 3A play, Artesia (14-7) goes to La Quinta (19-6), Suburban co-champion Mayfair (18-5) is at home against Bolsa Grande (13-9) and Bellflower (10-8) travels to Redlands (13-6).
In the 2A division, California (11-8) goes to Mission Viejo (12-4), La Serna (14-4), the Whitmont League champion, will be host to Chaminade (10-4) and St. Anthony (9-5) entertains Laguna Hills (10-8).
Games involving area teams in the opening round of the 1A brackets include Brethren (13-8) at Village Christian (12-3), Valley Christian (14-3) at home against St. Bonaventure (14-8) and Whittier Christian (15-6) traveling to Elsinore (16-6-1).
Collegiate League titlist Whitney High (8-3) is home team to Temple Christian (7-4) and Academy League winner Avalon (15-1) was to meet the winner of a wild card game in Small School division action.
