Unbeaten Nunn Seeks His Fifth Victory Tuesday

Michael Nunn needs work.

The North Hollywood middleweight hasn’t had any trouble finding opponents, just opposition. There’s a difference.

Fighting for North Hollywood’s Ten Goose boxing organization, Nunn has faced four opponents. Three didn’t survive the first round; the other succumbed in round four.

I.W. Johnson of San Francisco (14-7-1 with nine KOs) hopes to make Nunn’s fifth pro fight more of a workout. The two will square off Tuesday in the main event at the Country Club in Reseda.

Also on the card will be junior welterweight Jon Russell of North Hollywood (4-0 with three KOs) against an as-yet-unnamed opponent, bantamweights Manny Olivas of North Hollywood (1-0) and Jorge Rodriguez of Temple City, lightweights Erick Goossen of North Hollywood (3-0-1) and Albert Montenegro of La Puente, bantamweights Fidel Bricena of Los Angeles and Pedro Lara (1-1) of Pacoima, as well as an additional fight that will be added.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the first fight set for 8:15.

Profits from Tuesday’s event will go to the Police Reserve Officers program in the San Fernando Valley.
