The Generals (8-5) took a 24-21 lead four minutes into the final quarter on a one-yard dive by Walker, who topped 100 yards for the seventh straight game. Walker twice dived over the line on fourth-down plays in the drive, scoring the second time.

Denver (9-4) answered with an 80-yard scoring march as quarterback Bob Gagliano hit four different receivers for 69 yards to set up a one-yard plunge by Johnson with 6:02 left. Johnson finished with 23 carries for 98 yards.

New Jersey opened the scoring on the first play from scrimmage when Heisman Trophy winners Doug Flutie and Walker hooked up for a 68-yard touchdown when Walker ran away from Denver linebacker John Nevins.

Gagliano completed 17-of-31 passes for 242 yards, while Flutie was 5-for-15 for 141 yards.

Arizona 30, Portland 21--Luis Zendejas kicked three field goals before 15,275 fans at Portland and the Outlaws snapped a six-game losing streak by handing the Breakers a sixth straight defeat.

Doug Williams, who completed 17-of-28 passes for 208 yards, took the Outlaws (5-8) to a 27-0 lead early in the second half by throwing a pair of touchdown passes--a 12-yarder to Kim Anderson and a four-yarder to Ron Wheeler. Reggie Brown ran three yards for the other touchdown.
