Flintridge Sacred Heart Scores 1-0 Upset Over Woodcrest Christian in 1-A Semifinals

Julie Moscizki fired a one-hitter for her 14th victory of the season without a loss to lead Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada to a 1-0 upset victory over Woodcrest Christian of Riverside in a 1-A softball semifinal game at UC Riverside.

Moscizki outdueled Woodcrest Christian (21-4) ace Judi Miller, who pitched a two-hitter. Moscizki beat her by driving in the game’s only run with a fifth-inning single.

Flintridge Sacred Heart (18-4) will play Linfield Christian (20-3) of Temecula in the 1-A final Saturday. Linfield advanced with a 4-2 victory over Viewpoint at Ranch California Temecula Sports Park.

The 4-A and 3-A finals will match Orange County teams. Ocean View’s Jackie Oakley ran her record to 30-0 and her team’s record to 31-0, but it she had to wait 14 innings before the Huntington Beach school pushed across two runs to defeat Cypress, 2-0, at Arnold Park in a 4-A game. It took Westminster the same amount of work to defeat Edison of Huntington Beach. The Lions scored four times in the 14th for the 4-0 win at Golden West College in the other 4-A game.
