Salcido and Petredes Share Empire League MVP Honors

Esperanza High School pitcher Dave Salcido and El Dorado pitcher/first baseman Jeff Petredes have been named the Empire League’s most valuable players by a vote of the league’s coaches.

Salcido had a 7-0 record in league play to lead the Aztecs to the Empire League championship. The senior was 11-1 overall and had a 1.39 ERA.

Petredes was 3-2 with a 0.49 ERA. Also playing first, Petrdes, a junior, hit .419. for a El Dorado team that finished in a three-team tie for fourth in the league.
