100 Acres of Brush Burn Near Simi Valley
Afire blackened nearly 100 acres of brush about two miles north of Simi Valley early Tuesday but caused no injuries or damage to structures, the Ventura County Fire Department said.
The department is investigating the cause of the fire, which started about 5:15 a.m. near Tapo Canyon and Bennett roads and sent smoke over the Simi Valley Freeway, spokeswoman Lisa Hines said.
About 75 firefighters from 12 companies contained the blaze at 6:39 a.m., Hines said. Two bulldozers and a helicopter dropping water assisted.
