SEATTLE — Quarterback Jim Zorn came off the bench in the second half in relief of Dave Krieg and threw two touchdown passes as the Seattle Seahawks scored a 28-3 exhibition victory over the Detroit Lions Friday night at the Kingdome.
Zorn, Krieg’s little-used backup last season, fired scoring strikes of 21 yards to rookie Danny Greene and eight yards to Byron Walker, both in the fourth quarter.
The touchdowns followed a 36-yard Randall Morris scoring run in the third period, after Detroit led, 3-0, at halftime on a 28-yard field goal by Ed Murray in the second quarter.
Seattle added a fourth touchdown, the third of the final period, with 6:46 remaining, on a two-yard run by rookie Steve Morgan.
Zorn completed 6 of 8 passes for 78 yards. Krieg completed 8 of 21 throws for 85 yards.
The game marked the return of Curt Warner, who carried the ball 4 times for 12 yards in the first half. He missed virtually all of last season after severely injuring his right knee in Seattle’s regular-season opener.
Detroit’s first-year coach, Darryl Rogers, used three quarterbacks, starting 35-year-old Joe Ferguson and also going with Eric Hipple and John Witkowski.
The Seahawks lost three-year NFL veteran Chris Castor, a wide receiver from Duke, with a broken clavicle. He was hurt while attempting to catch a Krieg pass in the second quarter.
