The Los Angeles Lazers, whose fourth season in the Major Indoor Soccer League will begin with a game at Dallas Oct. 25, rolled out a new Buss in a press conference at the Forum.
Jim Buss, 25, son of Laker owner Jerry Buss, is the Lazers’ new president, replacing his brother, John, who moved over to the Forum Sports Cable Channel.
Thursday, Jim signed MISL Coach of the Year Peter Wall and high-scoring Brazilian forward Nilton (Batata) DaSilva to new three-year contracts.
Also attending the press conference was Commissioner Francis Dale, who said the league, which opens play in October, is close to completing a contract with ESPN. If a satisfactory agreement is reached, the cable network could televise as many as 35 games during the 1985-86 season.
