Morse to Play Maui Opponent Tonight
In terms of San Diego County preps, Morse High School’s football team would expect to be playing Castle Park if its opponent was nicknamed the Trojans. But tonight, Morse will be in Maui, Hawaii, when it plays the Trojans of St. Anthony.
Some 40 members of the Morse team made the trip. Players have raised money via car washes and other fund-raisers. A San Diego travel agency arranged the trip and scheduled the game.
St. Anthony, which competes in the Maui Interscholastic League, was 4-6 last season. The top Trojans player is 6-foot 2-inch, 195-pound senior Kaeo AhSa, who can play running back, wide receiver, defensive back and kicker.
Morse isn’t the only San Diego-area school that will be in Maui this season. Sweetwater will travel there to play Baldwin High next Friday.
