300 to Run, Swim: About 300 competitors are expected to participate in today’s second annual Run-Swim-Run, which requires racers to run two miles and swim 800 yards. Athletes must register at the Huntington Beach Pier by 8 a.m. The event, which raises funds for the city’s lifeguard and junior lifeguard associations, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to winners in seven age categories, including a relay race to be held following the age group divisions. Runners will head south from the pier around Lifeguard Tower 9, enter the water on the north side of the pier, swim to the south side to repeat the land course and head through a funnel at the finish line. In addition to the awards for first-, second- and third-place finishers, all racers will automatically be entered in a door-prize drawing. About 150 people raced in the first Run-Swim-Run last year.
