Curt Warner, who is happy to be playing against anyone, anyplace, anytime, is especially keen on Monday night’s game against the Rams.

“I’m excited about the whole thing,” Warner said by phone from Seattle. “It’s a Monday night football game, kind of like a childhood fantasy. It’ll be my first time playing on Monday night.”

The Seahawks played twice on Monday night last season, but Warner was lost in the season opener with a knee injury. This will be Warner’s first regular season game in the Kingdome since the injury and his first game against Eric Dickerson, who will make his ’85 debut. They were the first two running backs drafted in ’83. “It’s gonna be fun for me to watch him play Monday,” Warner said. “He and I are friends. We talk from time to time whenever we’re at a function together.”

Warner rushed 28 times for 169 yards in the 49-35 win at San Diego last Sunday.

Warner wears a brace on the knee although, he says, “My injured leg is probably stronger than my non-injured leg. It could be a psychological thing. I’m used to it, so I just leave it on.”

Ram Notes

Those not thrilled with the performance of Ram quarterback Dieter Brock so far should listen to his former coach, Ray Jauch. “I think he looks fine,” says Jauch, who coached Brock at Winnipeg in the Canadian Football League and watched him play at Philadelphia Sunday when he completed 11 of 26 passes, with 1 interception. For the two games to date Brock is 27 for 55 (49.1%), with 1 touchdown and 3 interceptions. He ranks 25th in the league at 52.5, but that’s ahead of Joe Theismann (43.2) and Vince Ferragamo (49.6).

To appreciate the loss of Mike Guman for at least eight weeks with a knee injury, consider that it will take four players to replace him. Guman not only was a regular U-back on offense but also a member of three of the six special teams. Linebacker Carl Ekern takes over on punt coverage, Lynn Cain moves in on the kickoff return team the and rookie Kevin Greene will block for placekicks.
