Last Week: Gossen completed 10 of 19 passes for 159 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion to lead the Warriors to a 33-20 victory over Lompoc. Gossen also rushed seven times for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Season: The team is 2-0 behind Gossen’s passing. In the first game of the season against San Marcos, he was 13 of 16 for 161 yards and three touchdowns, leading Westlake to a 42-7 victory. His season totals: 23 of 35 passes for 320 yards and five touchdowns; 12 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Coach’s Comment: “Last year, he reported in very poor physical shape,” coach George Contreras said. “Therefore, he was in poor mental shape also. This year, he was ready to go. I still think he can improve on reading the coverage.”
