Clester Leads Loara to 3rd Win in Row

Quarterback Wade Clester led Loara High School to its third win of the season Friday night as the Saxons defeated Garden Grove, 23-0, in Anaheim’s Glover Stadium in front of 1,900.

Clester, a 6-foot 2-inch, 187-pound senior, scored on a 27-yard run, kicked two extra points and a 47-yard field goal to help the Saxons stay unbeaten.

Loara tailback Chris Wright led all runners with 108 yards in 15 carries including a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that gave the Saxons a 6-0 lead.

Clester finished with 49 yards on only 3 attempts. Teammate Andy Janney contributed 44 yards on 7 carries, including a four-yard scoring run that put the game away early in the fourth quarter.

Garden Grove running back Bart Limas led the Argonauts with 85 yards rushing, but Loara’s defense shut down the rest of the Garden Grove team. The Argonauts finished with 70 yards rushing.
