Hoover remained undefeated through five games last week when Tom Konjoyan kicked a 42-yard field goal with 34 seconds remaining in a 17-16 victory over La Canada. Konjoyan also caught seven passes for 141 yards. Quarterback John Alaimo and tailback Al Roberson also scored on runs of 14 and 22 yards, respectively.

Crescenta Valley (2-2-1) evened its record with a 14-0 victory over Burroughs. Defensive back Chuck White ran 38 yards with an intercepted pass to set up one score, a six-yard pass from Carl Lomas to Geoff Thran. Jim Lobianco rushed 15 times for 55 yards and Crescenta Valley's other score.

Glendale at Pasadena

The Dynamiters, who dropped to 3-2 in a 20-10 loss to Burbank last week, open Pacific League play against perennial power Pasadena. Glendale, 1-2 after a 2-0 start, held a 10-6 lead at halftime but lost when Burbank rusher Frank Valdivia ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns to spark to 2-3 Bulldogs. Glendale was led by Ryan Barreras, who accounted for all the points on a 10-yard touchdown run, an extra point and a 36-yard field goal. The game is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Allan Hancock College at Glendale

Glendale Coach Jim Sartoris said the Vaqueros cannot overlook Hancock, but that might be easy to do. Hancock is winless and was defeated 53-0 by Glendale's Western State Conference rival Moorpark two weeks ago. The Vaqueros remained undefeated last week with a come-from-behind 21-17 victory over Santa Monica. The Corsairs led 17-14 with under two minutes to play, but lost when they fumbled an attempted punt at their own one-yard line. Kevin Sterling scored on the next play to send Glendale to the victory. The game is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
