Volleyball Roundup : Cypress Defeated by Golden West

Outside hitters Lisa Manfree and Marina Van Melle had nine kills apiece Wednesday night to lead the Golden West College women’s volleyball team to a 9-15, 15-7, 15-4, 15-7 South Coast Conference victory over Cypress in the Chargers’ gym.

Manfree also added five aces for the first-place Rustlers (6-0 in the SCC and 6-1 overall). Cypress is 0-6 and 1-7. Golden West’s next match is at home against Fullerton Friday.

In other South Conference action:

Saddleback 3, Rancho Santiago 0--Jennifer Krank had 11 kills and Anna Castillo 10 as the Gauchos came from behind in the last two games for a 15-5, 15-13, 15-12 victory at Santa Ana. Rancho Santiago (3-3) got 10 kills from Anne Oberschlake and eight from Lana Friedman. Saddleback is 4-2 in conference.
