Pacific Gives Fresno State a Scare, but Bulldogs Rally for 43-37 Victory

Freshman running back Kelly Skipper rushed for a pair of two-yard touchdowns in the third quarter as Fresno State came from behind to defeat the University of Pacific, 43-37, Saturday in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game.

The Bulldogs are 8-0-1 overall and 6-0 in the PCAA. Pacific, which led, 31-26, at halftime, is 2-4 and 4-6.

Fresno State quarterback Kevin Sweeney completed 28 of 35 passes for 348 yards and a touchdown and rushed for two other touchdowns. Skipper’s third-quarter touchdowns capped drives of 82 and 87 yards that consumed more than 12 minutes.

An interception by free safety Rod Webster late in the game sealed the victory for Fresno State.
