Share

One man was killed and a firefighter suffered first- and second-degree burns Sunday morning in a fire that raced through a Burbank metal products company.

The man was apparently an employee of the firm, Solar Precision Products, and was staying in quarters on the building’s second floor, said Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Kight. His identity was withheld pending notification of his family.

Eight fire companies from the Burbank and Glendale fire departments fought the two-alarm blaze at 607 S. Glenwood Place, which was reported shortly after 5 a.m. and extinguished about an hour later, said Judy Maass, a spokeswoman for the Burbank Fire Department.

Flame and smoke caused an estimated $200,000 damage to the structure and its contents, Maass said.

One firefighter was treated for burns on his neck and released from St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.

A Fire Department arson team and Burbank police were investigating the cause of the blaze.
