Golden West Wins on Second-Half Goals

Pat Penner scored two second-half goals to give Golden West College a 2-1 win over Rancho Santiago Tuesday and a second-place finish in the South Coast Conference men’s soccer standings.
Penner got the game-winning goal with 11 minutes remaining, on a shot to the upper-right corner of the net. Armando Rocha scored Rancho Santiago’s goal. Golden West goalie Erik Smith had 10. The Rustlers (7-3-2, 9-7-6) finished second behind Cerritos.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Orange Coast 3, Mt. San Antonio 1--Chris Phenix, Curtis Wattan and Megin Cuello scored second-half goals to enable the Pirates to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit for the win in Costa Mesa.
