University High School football Coach Rick Curtis resigned Wednesday after five years at the position.

“It was several things,” Curtis said. “But mostly it was time to move on, time for a change.”

Curtis, 29, said that he will remain at the school to teach business and continue as the school’s activities director but that he would consider other coaching opportunities should they arise.

Curtis’ record at University was 21-29-2, including 1-8-1 this season. Curtis is the second Sea View League coach to resign. In November, Ed Blanton resigned at Estancia. Both schools are seeking replacements.

Bart Goldstein, Buena Park football coach, resigned Monday after compiling a 9-21 in three seasons.

Goldstein, 29, said one reason for his resignation was the slow development of lower level football at Buena Park.

“I thought it was time for a change,” Goldstein said. “Things just weren’t going well here. I decided after three years it was time to give someone else a try.”

The Coyotes were 1-9 this season. Their only win came on a forfeit by Laguna Beach.

“I don’t know if I’ll continue coaching,” he said. “I haven’t decided anything yet. I just thought it was the best thing for Buena Park if I resigned.”
