Girls’ Basketball Roundup : Ocean View Easily Defeats Magnolia

Trina Vlachos had 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ocean View High School to a 94-48, nonleague win over Magnolia Tuesday night in Huntington Beach.

Vlachos led four Ocean View players in double figures. Teri Zanelli and Dalene Lawson had 16 points each and Dana Douty added 12 points, 10 assists and 2 steals. The win improves Ocean View ‘s record to 4-1.

Magnolia (3-1) got 31 points from Michelle Carter.

In other nonleague action:

Canyon 48, San Clemente 31--Angie Nelson had 12 points and Lila Nafa added 8 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Comanches (2-1) to the win at Canyon. Lynn Kristofferson led San Clemente (2-2) with 8 points.

Marina 58, Dana Hills 27--Sophomore Dawn Charroin had 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Vikings (4-1) to the win in Huntington Beach.

Capistrano Valley 51, Saddleback 19--The Cougars outscored Saddleback, 28-5, in the first half en route to the easy win at Capistrano Valley. Sophomore forward Heather Schoeny led the Cougars (5-0) with 16 points.

Laguna Hills 53, Santa Ana 31--Julie Monaghan had a game-high 24 points to lead the Hawks to their first win of the season. Bobbie Matzoll had 13 points for Laguna Hills (1-3).

Millikan 70, Kennedy 38--The Fighting Irish lost their season opener at Millikan, despite 22 points from Ursula Lovely. Millikan led, 35-15, at halftime.
