Poway High School Ranked No. 1 in Times’ Top 10

Two-time defending San Diego Section 3-A champion Poway High School is the No. 1 team in this week’s Times’ Top 10. The Titans (9-2) are coming off of a pair of wins this past weekend in the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.

El Camino, which defeated Poway in the championship game of the Lt. James Mitchell Tournament at San Dieguito High Dec. 21, is ranked second this week. The Wildcats have all five starters returning from last year’s team which made the 2-A semifinals.

The next three teams in the top 10, Mira Mesa (7-2), Morse (5-3) and Serra (10-1), represent the rugged City Eastern League.

Defending 2-A champion, Oceanside, is sixth in this week’s poll despite losing all but three players off last year’s championship team. The Pirates are 9-1 on the season.
