NOMINEES LISTED FOR MUSIC AWARDS

Whitney Houston, Alabama, Willie Nelson and Phil Collins have received the most nominations--based on year-end sales charts--for the American Music Awards.
The winners, selected by a national sampling of 20,000 record-buyers, will be named Jan. 27 in nationally televised ceremonies (ABC, 8 p.m.) from the Shrine Auditorium. The major nominees:
POP/ROCK
Male vocalist: Phil Collins, Prince, Bruce Springsteen; female vocalist: Whitney Houston, Madonna, Tina Turner; group: Chicago, Kool & the Gang, Tears for Fears; album: Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A,” Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” Collins’ “No Jacket Required.”
