Saddleback Student Wins Bee: Minh-Tuan Hoang of Saddleback High School took first place in the seventh annual Santa Ana Rotary Club High School Spelling Competition on Thursday night at Newport Harbor High School. Hoang, who will receive a cash prize of $200, topped competitors from 33 private and public schools in Orange County by spelling correctly chiaroscuro --the treatment of light and shade in a painting to produce a dramatic effect. The runner-up, Merritt Schoch of Canyon High School, will receive $100. Hoang and Schoch will represent the county at the State High School Spelling Championship in Orinda on May 8.
