The Lyman Bostock Memorial Scholarship baseball game, scheduled for Feb. 9 at Cal State Northridge, has been canceled because of a lack of professional players, the school announced Tuesday.
It is the second straight year that the benefit has been called off. The game had matched professional players from the Valley area against Cal State Northridge.
Bostock, an outfielder at Northridge in 1971 and 1972, played for the Minnesota Twins and California Angels. He was shot to death Sept. 23, 1978, in Gary, Ind.
Before his death, Bostock was planning to start a scholarship program. The scholarship game in his name was set up by the CSUN baseball program in 1979.
