Angelus League : Mater Dei Rolls On With 88-63 Victory

Mater Dei High School continued its impressive march through the Angelus League with an 88-63 win over Bishop Montgomery in boys’ basketball action Wednesday night in Santa Fe Springs.

Senior forward Stewart Thomas scored 34 points and had 20 rebounds as the Monarchs made it 51 straight wins in the past two seasons. Thomas was 14 of 20 shooting from the floor and 6 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Guard Tom Peabody had 8 assists for the Monarchs and center LeRon Ellis had 17 points. Forward James Taylor led Bishop Montgomery with 19 points. Mater Dei is 22-0 overall and 7-0 in league. Bishop Montgomery dropped to 2-5 in league and 10-11 overall. In other Angelus League play, St. Paul edged Servite, 68-64.

St. Margarets 51, CSDR 44--Robb Lee scored 22 points to lead the Tartans over the Cubs despite a 30-point performance by Kenny Gonzales. Eric Flather also added 11 points for St. Margarets, which upped its record to 10-6 overall.
