San Diego Baseball Roundup : USD Rallies to Outslug UC Irvine, 14-4
The University of San Diego scored four runs in the sixth inning and seven in the eighth en route to a 14-4 nonconference victory over UC Irvine Tuesday at Irvine.
The Toreros (4-0-1) tied the score 3-3 in the sixth on Sean Baroj’s lead-off home run. Later, Robbie Roberts scored on John Bonilla’s triple, and Bonilla scored when John Holt singled to center. Holt scored on David Jacas’ double.

San Diego State 7, UC San Diego 3--Deron Johnson went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs Tuesday to lead San Diego State to a 7-3 win over UC San Diego at SDSU’s Smith Field. Dan Lopes and Nick Resigo each had two hits for the Aztecs (3-2). Cal State Dominguez Hills 9, United States International University 5--The Gulls dropped to 2-7 Tuesday with the loss at home.
Dominguez Hills went ahead in the first inning on Jon Deuder’s three-run homer. But the visitors tied the game in the third on a home run by Mike Strong and went ahead 4-3 in the fourth on a solo shot by Eric Mihkelson.
Dominguez Hills scored four runs in the eighth to break another tie.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE San Diego Mesa 2, Saddleback 1--The Olympians (2-0) took advantage of shoddy fielding and pitching by the Gauchos (0-1) to get the nonconference win at Saddleback.
