San Diego Prep Baseball : Oceanside’s Combs Reigns Over Army-Navy With a Five-Inning No-Hitter

Share

Keith Combs got an assist from the rain Thursday afternoon as he pitched a five-inning no-hitter to lead Oceanside High School to a 13-0 win over Army-Navy in the Goodman-Pirate Baseball Tournament at Oceanside.

Combs, a 6-foot, 165-pound junior right-hander, apparently lost his no-hitter when he allowed a single in the top of the sixth inning. But it started raining heavily moments later and the umpires eventually called the game. When an official game (four innings in high school) is rained out, the final score and statistics revert back to the last complete inning; Combs’ no-hitter was saved.

Combs struck out 12 and walked one. Oceanside was the victim of a no-hitter Wednesday when the Pirates (1-1) lost to Laguna Hills, 7-0.
