Nine Make 2nd Appearance on All-Southeast Basketball Teams

Nine players make repeat appearances on The Times’ All-Southeast boys and girls basketball teams.

The All-Southeast teams are two of 20 chosen from 10 Times circulation areas. Awards for coaches of the year and players of the year will be announced Saturday.

Making a second consecutive appearance on the boys team are St. Paul guard John Scott, South Gate guard Keith Billingslea, Cerritos forward-center Kevin Holland and La Serna guard Robert Stone.

Returning to the girls team are Montebello forward Maribel Arenas, La Mirada center Trish Gibson, Gahr guard Julie King, Valley Christian forward Donna Pollema and Whittier Christian center Cindy Vyskocil.

Also selected to the boys team were senior forward Steve Balstad of St. John Bosco, junior guard Matt Bowley of Whitney, senior center Steve Fendry of Warren and junior guard Mike Goodcase, senior center Todd Morrison of Whittier Christian and Anthony Jenkins of Pius X.

Others selected to the girls team included junior guard Debbie DeLeon of Whitney, junior guard Cheryl Humphrey and junior center Molly Wampler of Gahr, senior forward-center Cheryl Swartwood of Downey and junior center Kari Parriott of Valley Christian.
