Other high school softball scores: Sylmar 2, Chatsworth 0--Deanna Monroy pitched a two-hitter and struck out five to lead Sylmar. . . . Moorpark 17, Oak Park 2--Denise Duarte’s grand slam highlighted an eight-run second inning for Moorpark. . . . San Fernando 9, Granada Hills 5--Sandy Gonzales and Lori Garcia had two-run singles in a six-run sixth-inning rally for San Fernando. . . . Kennedy 11, Monroe 0--Pauline Madrid tossed a one-hitter to lead Kennedy. Julie Burley was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. . . . Sylmar 2, Chatsworth 0--Terry Klement was 2 for 3 and scored twice to lead Sylmar. . . . Calabasas 1, Santa Clara 0--Pam King scored on Stacy Greene’s infield hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Carolynn Blake struck out 14 and recorded her ninth complete game of the year. . . . Coast Christian 33, Viewpoint 19--Viewpoint gave up 15 unearned runs. Sage Bernard of Viewpoint hit a home run and teammate Liesle Dano went 4 for 4. . . . La Reina 12, Bishop Diego 1--Teresa Rensch and Erin Sweeney drove in two runs each. Melissa Mahan struck out five and didn’t allow an earned run in five innings. . . . Canoga 6, Reseda 1--De Dow threw a five-hitter and struck out nine in seven innings. Canoga Park had seven hits in the game and scored five runs on walks and errors made by Reseda. Cathy Tharpe of Reseda walked eight batters. . . . El Camino Real 19, Birmingham 0--Darci Stehlik hit for the cycle for El Camino Real. The Conquistadores collected 21 hits and pitcher Beth Silverman struck out nine. She didn’t allow a hit through five innings. . . . Simi Lutheran 24, Highland Hall 15--Christy Teffeteller was 3 for 6 with two RBIs. Teammate Yukako Ogoschi was 2 for 4 and had two RBIs. . . . Hart 26, Schurr 1--Danielle Wood smashed a three-run homer and had six RBIs to lead Hart. Chris Yeates and Michelle Nedin each had four hits. . . . Village Christian 5, Monclair Prep 1--Pitcher Michelle Vail was 2 for 3 and teammate Mary Thomas was 3 for 4 and scored two runs. . . . L.A. Lutheran 18, Webb 5--L.A.Lutheran led 18--0 after four innings. The game ended due to the 10-run rule at the start of the fifth.

JC Baseball

Canyons 15, West L.A. 12--Trailing, 14-1, West L.A. scored three runs in the seventh, two in the eighth, and, powered by David Dawson’s three-run homer, six runs in the ninth.

After suffering from a mid-season hitting slump, Canyons’ bats have been making quite a bit of noise. Don Erickson was 3 for 5 with 5 runs batted in and Pete Kuld and Scott Drury each hit solo home runs. It was Kuld’s ninth homer of the season and Drury’s 10th. Canyons’ Mike Savaikie hit his first homer this season. Alex Vasquez had three hits for Canyons.

Starter Darrin Beer got the win, his ninth straight.

L.A. Valley 22, Antelope Valley 16--Valley College won its seventh straight in a game marked by 48 hits at wind-swept Antelope Valley College.

Every Valley player had at least two hits in the Mountain Valley Conference game. Catcher Howard Halen was 5 for 5 with two home runs and four runs batted in to lead Valley (9-3, 20-8 overall). Chris Haslock (4 for 6), Sal Villasenor (3 for 6), Ron Dale and Mark Glennie hit home runs.

Cuesta 4, Moorpark 3--With two outs, Steve Gray drove in the game winning run in the eighth inning.

High School Track

Notre Dame 117, Bosco Tech 5--C.J. Fisher and Brenden Cowles led the Knights by winning five events. Fisher won the 220-yard dash in 22.5, and the 120-yard high hurdles in 14.6. Cowles won the 100 meters in 11.5, the 330-yard intermediate hurdles in 41.2 and the long jump at 20-6.

Other high school track scores: Westlake 66, Royal 48--Gary Wellman won the 100 meters in a wind-aided 10.5 and ran the third leg on the winning 1600-meter relay team (3:27.4). Mike Holcomb won the 400 (50.6), the 800 (2:03.8) and anchored the 1600 relay. . . . Westlake (girls) 97, Royal 20--Desiree Joubert won three events to lead Westlake. She took the 800-meters in 2:20.9, the 400-meters in 60.4 and the 1600-meters in 5:18.3.

High School Volleyball

Harvard def. Miraleste 15-8, 13-15, 15-8, 7-15, 15-3--Harvard (12-1) clinched a tie for the Ocean League title with the victory at Miraleste.
