Rosie’s K.T. Wins Los Angeles Handicap
Favored Rosie’s K.T. needed all the riding skill of jockey Patrick Valenzuela Saturday to score a head victory in the 34th running of the $80,800 Los Angeles Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Mane Magic set the pace in the six-furlong race under jockey Jack Kaenel, but the winner closed on the inside in the stretch, and the pair battled for a quarter-mile, with Rosie’s K.T. just getting his head in front at the wire.
In scoring his sixth win in 16 starts, Rosie’s K.T. was clocked in 1:10.
As the 3-5 choice of the crowd of 42,000, the winner paid $3.40, $2.60 and $2.10. Mane Magic paid $3.00 and $2.40, and Much Fine Gold paid $2.60.
