Azusa Pacific had little trouble winning its fifth straight NAIA District III men’s track title and its third straight women’s title. The team set a number of records, the most impressive of which may have been in the decathlon.

Ted Campbell, who had cancer and weighed 120 pounds two years ago, surprised even his teammates by winning the decathlon with 6,673 points, the top mark in the NAIA this season. Campbell suddenly goes into next week’s NAIA national meet as one of the favorites.

Azusa Pacific’s top woman performer was sophomore Airat Bakare, who set district records in all three sprints. She and national discus champion Christian Okoye will compete in Saturday’s UCLA Pepsi Invitational.
