Carlsbad
A second man shot Wednesday night during what authorities are calling a foiled robbery died Thursday morning, a deputy coroner said.
Dennis M. White, 32, of Carlsbad, died at Scripps Memorial Hospital of a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said White and Clifton L. Roberts, 27, of Louisville, Ky., entered the home of Michael Gates on Butters Road in Carlsbad Wednesday night and attempted to rob Gates and two others at gunpoint. Gates wrestled away White’s gun during a scuffle in the kitchen and shot the men, police said. Roberts died at the scene.
Police are continuing their investigation.
