Sports Digest was compiled by David Morgan

The Southern California Football Officials Assn. voted to recommend a boycott of the 1986 high school football season in the Southern Section at a special meeting Thursday night at Arcadia High.

Representatives of the group’s 11 charters will take the recommendation back to game officials for a final vote.

The dispute centers on money. The officials association, which is not a union, had requested a $3 raise for each of the next three years. But at its May 8 meeting, the Southern Section approved a $1 raise for 1986 and a $2 raise for 1987 and 1988.
