Meylor Is Named Interim Coach at Loara

Tom Meylor has been named interim basketball coach at Loara High School, according to Athletic Director Ray Moore.

Meylor, who served as the Saxons’ freshman coach last season and junior varsity coach in 1984-85, was selected to direct the spring and summer basketball programs after the resignation of first-year coach Craig Conrad two weeks ago.

Conrad resigned after learning that his teaching job would be transferred off campus because of declining enrollment at Loara. The coaching position must be advertised within the school district before a permanent replacement can be announced, Moore said. Meylor, who previously held the junior varsity job at El Dorado, has applied for the Saxon head coaching position. He has taught at Loara for two years.
