Carpenter, Bradshaw to Go to Golden West Meet in Sacramento

Rodney Bradshaw of Saugus High and Mike Carpenter of Simi Valley have been been invited to compete in the Golden West track meet this weekend at Cal State Sacramento.

Bradshaw has entered the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles; Carpenter will compete in the decathlon, which begins Friday. The meet concludes Saturday.

Bradshaw won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at the State Championships last Saturday at Cerritos College. He also finished fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles.

He and teammates Daren and Kirk Stonerock led the Centurions to their first Southern Section 3-A title this year. He has personal bests of 14.02 in the high hurdles and 37.30 in the intermediate hurdles.

Carpenter, the school record holder at Simi Valley, has season bests of 21-8 1/2 in the long jump, 15.0 in the 110-meter high hurdles and 6-2 in the high jump.

The Golden West meet is one of the nation's premier meets for high school seniors.
