Train Kills 3; Driver Ignored Gate

Three people were killed this morning when a driver ignored warning lights and a lowered crossing gate in the City of Industry and their vehicle was struck by a freight train traveling at nearly 60 m.p.h., sheriff's deputies reported.

Two men and a woman, whose names were withheld pending notification of relatives, died shortly after 7 a.m. when the driver maneuvered the auto around the gate and was hit by the westbound Union Pacific train at the intersection of Stimson Avenue and Valley Boulevard.
