All-Stars Close Prep Careers Tonight

Jud Buechler of Poway High School and Ken Crawford of El Camino are among the players who will close out their prep careers tonight at 7 in the 18th annual San Diego County All-Star basketball game at Grossmont College.

Buechler, The Times’ Player of the Year, will lead the 3-A team against a 2-A team headed by Crawford, who led El Camino to a section title.

The boys’ game will follow the girls’ game, which starts at 5 p.m.

Point Loma’s Michelle Collum and Monte Vista’s Paula Mascari will lead the 3-A team, and Southwest’s Michele Wilkes will lead the 2-A team.

The teams are made up of the top graduated seniors in the county. The games are sponsored by the San Diego Basketball Coaches Assn. All proceeds will go to the Special Olympics.

John Singer of Helix and Art Edge of Mount Miguel will coach the 3-A boys, and Forrest Partch of Castle Park and Ray Johnson of El Camino will coach 2-A boys.

Manny Silva of Monte Vista will coach the 3-A girls and John Boone of Southwest will coach the 2-A girls.
