Training Sessions Will Be Open for Fighters on San Diego Card
Twelve boxers who will fight Friday night in San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium will train through Wednesday at Lee White Toyota dealership at College Avenue and Highway 94.
San Diego area fighters will work out from noon to 2:30 p.m., and out-of-town boxers will train from 3-5 p.m.
Friday night’s card: In 12 rounds, Richard Aguirre (13-1), of San Diego vs. California welterweight champion Felipe Canela (21-5-3), of Los Angeles, and California featherweight champion Irving Mitchell, of San Diego vs. Adrian Arreola (33-10), of Los Angeles. In 10 rounds, welterweights Rigo Lopez (14-1), of San Diego, vs. Raymundo Torres (22-4), of Mexico. In eight rounds, welterweights David Gutierrez (14-0), of San Diego, vs. Glenn McGee (6-2), of Los Angeles, and flyweights Tony DeLuca (7-1-2), of San Diego, vs. Arturo Rodrigues (6-3), of Blythe. In a four-round heavyweight fight, rookies Orlin Norris vs. Levi Billips, both from San Diego.
Training is open to the public and is free. Tickets for the fights, ranging from $15 to $60, are available at the training site, at Trip Ticket locations and at the El Cortez Convention Center box office. The stadium opens at 5:30 Friday with the first fight at 7.
