A man said to resemble composite drawings of the Southside Serial Killer was arrested in East Los Angeles Wednesday night by a California Highway Patrol officer who was called to handle a domestic dispute.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesmen said the Southside Serial Killer Task Force was called into the case when the alleged victim in the domestic dispute pointed out the suspect’s resemblance to the drawings. Deputies declined to say if the man was black.

Sheriff’s Deputy Sam Jones said the incident began late Wednesday night, when a distraught woman flagged down a CHP officer at the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Eagle Street, saying she had been beaten by the man with whom she lived.

The man was arrested for investigation of domestic violence, and the CHP officer asked the Sheriff’s Department to take over the case, after the woman called his attention to the man’s resemblance to the Southside Serial Killer drawings.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the East Los Angeles sheriff’s station to await interrogation by members of the Serial Killer Task Force.

“At the moment,” Jones said, “all we really know is that we have a possible look-alike.”
