Primera Runs 16:36 in 3-Mile as Burroughs Beats Crespi in First Cross-Country Meet
Javier Primera led Burroughs High to a 26-29 win over Crespi in a season-opening, nonleague cross-country meet Friday at Woodley Park, and Agoura swept a dual meet from Notre Dame on its home course at Paramount Ranch in another season opener.
Primera ran the three-mile course in 16:36, finishing 14 seconds ahead of Crespi’s Sean Huckaby.
Crespi teammates Don Moser and Bryan McCanna finished fourth and fifth in 17:14 and 17:17.
Bryan Damworth and Tally Rowland led Agoura to convincing victories over Notre Dame. The boys team won by a 19-40 margin and the girls score was 22-33.
Freshman Damworth ran the hilly three-mile course in 17:05.
Teammates Peter Oviatt and Matt Thomson finished second and third in 18:08 and 18:20.
Although Vicki Hosek of Notre Dame won the girls race in 24:22, Rowland and teammates Jennifer Sullivan and Grace Asencion finished second, third and fourth.
