College Roundup : UCI Gets Pair of Water Polo Wins

UC Irvine won the first two water polo matches in the 20th Irvine Tournament Friday at Heritage Park. The Anteaters defeated Fresno State, 9-6, in the opening game--the win also counts in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. race--and Cal State Los Angeles, 10-7, in the second match.

Julian Harvey scored four goals against Fresno and three against Cal State L.A. Tom Warde scored three goals in each game for UCI, which plays Air Force at 9:10 this morning.

In men’s soccer action:

Santa Clara 1, Cal State Fullerton 0--Greg Troupe scored at 61:42 for the Broncos (2-3-1) in Santa Clara. Fullerton (1-2-2) had 11 shots.

UC San Diego 1, Chapman 0--The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-2-1.

In women’s soccer action:

Chapman 2, Westmount 1--Debbie Stuart scored both goals for the Panthers (2-1-1).
