Huntington Beach Edison Rallies to Score a 14-7 Victory Over Anaheim Servite

Edison High School of Huntington Beach scored two touchdowns in the second half Thursday night for a come-from-behind 14-7 victory over Anaheim Servite in a non-league game before 7,000 fans at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

Charger quarterback Mike Henderson, who completed one of nine passes for four yards in the first half, threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Dan Hughes in the third period and then ran one yard for a touchdown in the fourth as Edison improved its record to 3-0.

Servite (2-1) scored in the first quarter when Jason Messersmith teamed with Nick-John Haiduc on a 61-yard touchdown pass play. Messersmith completed 10 of 26 passes for 205 yards in the game, but he was intercepted six times. Haiduc caught five passes for 114 yards.

Henderson, who also played on defense, had two interceptions for the Chargers, as did Gunnar Wolfe. The latter ended the Friars’ last threat with an end-zone interception with 1:29 left in the game.
