The Corona del Mar High School boys’ cross-country team, ranked third in the Southern Section 4-A Division and second in Orange County, was upset by unranked Tustin Thursday in a Sea View League meet.
The Tillers and the Sea Kings tied, 28-28, but Tustin won because of a faster time by its sixth finisher, Eric Hook. He ran the hilly, three-mile Upper Newport Bay Course in 16 minutes 17 seconds and finished one second ahead of Corona del Mar’s sixth finisher.
Corona del Mar sophomore Eddie Lavelle won the race with a time of 15:03. Senior Rick Brethour of Tustin was second at 15:12.
