Community College Roundup : Golden West Sweeps Long Beach City
Golden West opened its South Coast Conference women’s volleyball season with a 15-2, 15-8, 15-6 victory over Long Beach City College at Long Beach Wednesday.
Kathy Wissman had eight kills and five blocks and Dana Mosebrook had six kills and five blocks for the Rustlers.
Golden West is 4-0 overall. Long Beach is 0-1, 2-3.
In nonconference volleyball action:
Rancho Santiago 3, Mt. SAC 1--Melanie Schuler had 11 digs, 7 service aces and 6 kills and Ann Oberschlake had 10 kills to lead the Dons to a 15-10, 15-5, 10-15, 15-11 victory at Rancho Santiago.
In South Coast Conference water polo action:
Long Beach City 12, Golden West 11--Scott Larsen and Jason Jeffries each had four goals for the Rustlers (4-1 in conference, 9-3 overall).
