Bell-Jeff 32, Pater Noster 6--Quarterback Keith Fitzgerald passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Guards to the Santa Fe League win at Pater Noster.
Fitzgerald, a senior, completed 11 of 19 passes for 148 yards with no interceptions as Bell-Jeff improved its record to 5-0, 2-0 in league. Pater Noster dropped to 3-2, 0-2.
Bell-Jeff’s chance for a shutout was spoiled when Pater Noster quarterback Edgar Espinosa scored on a three-yard run in the game’s final minute.
The Guards’ leading receiver was Matt Woodlief, who caught five passes for 79 yards. Billy Brockway caught three for 54 yards, including a 29-yard reception for a touchdown.
Dave Lockwood led the Bell-Jeff rushing attack with 37 yards on eight carries.
