Village Christian 22, La Verne Lutheran 0--Playing without Coach Mike Plaisance, who was ejected early in the second quarter for unsportsmanlike conduct, Village Christian put on an impressive offensive display to defeat La Verne Lutheran for its first Alpha League victory of the season Saturday at Kennedy High.

Running back Tyler Victor scored all three Crusader touchdowns, including an 88-yard return of an interception late in the third quarter. His first two scores were on 31- and eight-yard pass receptions from quarterback Chris Johnson.

Johnson completed 7 for 16 passes for 87 yards. Crusader halfback Scott Phillips had 118 yards on 16 carries.

The Village Christian defense limited La Verne Lutheran to 98 total yards, 95 of which were gained by fullback Robert Hooker. La Verne Lutheran’s had only two first downs in the first half came, and those came on the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties which removed Coach Plaisance.

Linebacker Ron Romberger led the Crusader defense with 11 unassisted tackles and sacked Trojan quarterback Brandon Dudley for a safety in the second quarter.

Village Christian improved its record to 2-4 and 1-2 in league.
